Ingredients
Scale
Salmon and Seasoning
- 1 1/2 pounds salmon filet
- 1-2 tablespoons all-purpose seasoning mix (see notes for homemade option)
Bang Bang Sauce
- 1/4 cup mayo
- 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 1 clove garlic, grated
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
Toppings and Sides
- Chili crisp for topping
- Cooked rice, for serving
- Avocado cucumber salsa (see notes)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the salmon.
- Prepare the Salmon: Cut the salmon into individual portions if desired. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels to help the seasoning adhere and the fish to cook evenly. Coat the salmon evenly with the all-purpose seasoning mix. Place the seasoned salmon pieces on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Make the Bang Bang Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, grated garlic, and soy sauce until smooth. Reserve half of this sauce to use after baking the salmon.
- Apply Sauce and Bake: Spread a small spoonful of the bang bang sauce over each piece of seasoned salmon. Place the baking sheet toward the top of the preheated oven and bake the salmon for 10 minutes.
- Broil for Caramelization: After baking, turn on the broiler and broil the salmon for an additional 2 to 3 minutes. Watch closely until the salmon develops a golden brown and slightly caramelized top.
- Serve: Plate the salmon over warm cooked rice and serve with your preferred vegetable, such as avocado cucumber salsa. Drizzle the reserved bang bang sauce and chili crisp over the top for an extra burst of flavor.
Notes
- The all-purpose seasoning mix used here is a versatile blend; you can substitute with your favorite homemade or store-bought seasoning.
- The avocado cucumber salsa adds a cool, fresh contrast to the rich, spicy salmon—perfect for balancing heat and creaminess.
- This dish is great for busy weeknights due to its quick prep and cook times.
- If you prefer, you can adjust the amount of sweet chili sauce or chili crisp to control the spiciness level.
